Anencephaly is a terrible disorder which has as a main result the absence of some of the baby’s brain parts. If birth takes place, the baby usually dies within a few hours. He/she cannot feel anything, not even pain.

But, in most cases the baby’s condition is tracked down months before the birth should happen and abortion is performed. Women who opt for abortion shouldn’t be condemned by others, because in this case, there’s no doubt that this is the right decision.

The fact that these kind of anomalies exist is really fucked up. But we have to accept them, as their existence  don’t depend on us, they just happen, we must move on.

But what indeed is really fucked up is an article I found on the internet, in which the story of a mother who’s baby is diagnosed with anencephaly is told. The mother decides to keep the baby. despite the horror pictures seen above and despite the fact that the baby will surely die after birth. Instead of abortion she starts to pray to “the Virgin of Lujan”. The story goes on like this: the baby girl is born perfectly healthy.

Bullshit! That’s my honest opinion about this touching story. The doctor probably misdiagnosed the baby and that’s why she was born normally. But the message of this story can be evil for women who carry anencephaly babies for real and who might get false hopes by reading garbage like this. For what I’m concerned, this story can be even invented by the website owner. I’m just totally not buying it. Neither should anyone reading it.
