Mininova’s End of Existence

The huge torrent search engine and directory, Mininova, is going “legal” from now on. They have made the announcement on their blog earlier today, 26 November. Mininova was launched back in 2005 in January. After 4 years, the 5 people behind this website decided to change their policies. Although mininova was bringing their owners huge earnings (revenue of €1.1 million in 2007, which is approximately $1.6 million), it seems it has all come to an end.

It’s better to stop something while it’s working, rather than to be forced to stop when it’s too late. I would make a comparison to Oprah’s announcement about ending her famous show somewhere in 2010. The show couldn’t go on forever, so better end it while it has huge number of viewers, than wait for the big slump…

Mininova offers now the option to share any kind of file for which the user owns the copyrights.
